The terms for using VisualizerApp

1. The service

VisualizerApp is a browser-based document camera tool. It can use a webcam, USB document camera or paired phone to display, freeze, annotate, compare and record documents and objects.

VisualizerApp v3 is the current primary app. Features may be added, changed or removed as the service develops. Older app versions remain available only as fallback options.

During normal webcam or USB-camera use, camera and microphone media is processed in the browser and is not uploaded to VisualizerApp servers. Phone Camera sends encrypted media between the paired devices. Optional services such as resource search, wireless signalling, speech services and Pro activation use the providers described in the Privacy Policy. Google Analytics runs only if you allow it in Analytics settings.

2. Free and Pro access

The free tier includes the core classroom visualiser workflow. Some advanced presentation, export, branding, saved-workflow, recording and engagement features are limited or Pro-only. The current comparison is on the Pricing page.

A 24-hour Pro Preview may be available once per browser in any 90-day period without a key, email or payment card. A separate 7-day Pro Free Trial may be issued through Lemon Squeezy and requires an email address but no payment card.

Paid Pro access is available as an Annual Pass at £49 one-off including VAT for 12 months, or a Monthly Subscription at £4.99/month including VAT. Each includes up to six device activations. School or wider site licences may be quoted separately, including licences from £169 including VAT for 12 months and up to 25 device activations unless a different written quote is agreed.

Lemon Squeezy handles checkout, payment, tax, licence issuing and subscription management as Merchant of Record. Its transaction terms also apply. Advertised GBP prices include VAT; Lemon Squeezy calculates and accounts for the included tax and may display local currency where supported. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled through the Manage subscription link in the Lemon Squeezy receipt or subscription email. Refunds follow Lemon Squeezy's policy, these terms and applicable law.

Licence keys must not be published, resold or redistributed. Activations may be limited, suspended or revoked to prevent abuse.

The Annual Pass and Monthly Subscription are low-cost self-service licences under these standard terms. They do not include custom procurement terms, supplier agreements, data-processing agreements, indemnities or service-level terms. Contact us for a separate organisation quote if those are required.

3. Your content and local files

You retain ownership of content you create. Camera input, annotations, recordings and local PDFs are normally processed on the device. You are responsible for having permission to capture, display, record or share the material and people involved.

Manual backups and exports are created in the browser and saved wherever you choose. They may contain images, names, notes, OCR text, branding and audio, and are not encrypted by VisualizerApp. You are responsible for storing, sharing and deleting those files safely and for keeping any copies you need.

4. Resource Pane and third-party content

The Resource Pane can search or open content from Open Library, Internet Archive, Wikidata and external web search, and can render a PDF selected from your device. VisualizerApp does not own third-party content and does not guarantee that an item will remain available.

Rights and access vary. Where an item is borrow-restricted, unsupported or has unclear rights, it can open in the provider's reader or website instead of being rendered directly. You are responsible for complying with copyright, licence and provider terms.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use VisualizerApp to create, record, access or distribute material that is illegal, harmful, infringes another person's rights, or breaches a school/organisation policy that applies to you.

Phone Camera may be used only with devices you own or are authorised to use. You must not intercept or attempt to access another person's camera or pairing session.

If these terms are breached, or fraud, abuse or misuse occurs, we may suspend access or revoke a Pro licence without refund where lawful.

6. Availability and support

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features can be added, changed or removed. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where practical.

VisualizerApp is not a managed school MIS, safeguarding system, cloud-storage platform, emergency service, safety-critical system or guaranteed communications service. Users and organisations remain responsible for classroom policy, safeguarding, device management, permissions, backups and their own legal obligations.

Support is provided by email on a reasonable-efforts basis. Self-service licences do not include guaranteed response times, phone/on-site support, custom development, custom network troubleshooting, procurement support or a service-level agreement unless separately agreed in writing.

After a successful first load or PWA installation, supported core files may remain available from browser cache. Offline availability is not guaranteed, and Phone Camera, resource search, activation/revalidation and first loading of some libraries need a connection.

A feature change or removal does not by itself create a right to a refund unless required by applicable law or the applicable Lemon Squeezy policy.

7. Analytics

Google Analytics runs only after a fresh, optional Allow analytics choice. It measures consenting teachers' and staff operators' use of the site and tools, not classroom content or pupil activity. It does not replay activity from before consent. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control keep it off. You can decline or withdraw without losing features or saved work. Use Analytics settings in the website footer or in v3 Settings > General > Analytics and privacy. See the Privacy Policy for the data, retention, Google processing and withdrawal details.

8. Disclaimer and liability

VisualizerApp is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted or suitable for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to VisualizerApp is limited to the amount paid for VisualizerApp in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VisualizerApp and its operator from third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs or expenses, including reasonable legal costs, arising from your misuse of the service, breach of these terms or infringement of third-party rights through your use of the app.

10. Teacher use

VisualizerApp is intended for teachers, tutors and other teaching staff. It is not a student app. Students and children should not operate the app or its Phone Camera feature. The teacher in charge is responsible for operating the devices, controlling material shown, captured or saved, and obtaining any permissions required for the classroom activity. These intended-use rules do not replace the school's safeguarding and data-protection responsibilities.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may update these terms. The date at the top will be changed when we do. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply to subsequent use, subject to applicable law.
