Terms of Use

1. The service

VisualizerApp is a browser-based document camera tool. It lets you use a webcam or phone camera to display, freeze, annotate, and record documents and objects. Core camera processing runs locally in your browser — no account is required and camera/microphone data is not uploaded to our servers.

VisualizerApp v2 is the current stable version. VisualizerApp v3 is available as an Early Preview / in-development version with newer interface options and classroom tools. v3 features may change, move, or occasionally contain bugs while development continues.

Optional services (Open Library book search, wireless pairing, Pro activation, analytics) use selected third-party providers only when needed and are described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Free and Pro tiers

VisualizerApp offers a free tier with core classroom visualizer functionality such as live camera, freeze, annotate, split view, timer, wireless phone camera support, capture, and everyday teaching tools. Some advanced tools, higher limits, full-screen modes, exports, saved workflows, or classroom engagement modes may be limited or Pro-only.

Pro unlocks additional features such as Presenter Mode, Comparison Overlay, Lesson Decks, more freeze frames, advanced exports, longer recording, full-screen engagement tools, Pro Tools controls, and other classroom workflow features.

A one-off 24-hour Pro Preview may be available in-app without a key, email, or payment card. A separate 7-day Pro Free Trial may be available through Lemon Squeezy and requires an email address but no payment card.

Paid Pro access is available as an Annual Pass or a Monthly Subscription. The Annual Pass is £39 one-off excluding tax, is paid once for 12 months of Pro access, and includes up to 6 device activations. The Monthly Subscription is £3.99/month excluding tax and includes up to 6 device activations.

School, department, or wider site licences may be quoted separately, including licence keys from £139/year excluding tax for up to 25 device activations, unless a different written quote is agreed.

Checkout, payment, tax handling, licences, and subscription management are handled through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Their terms of service apply to the payment transaction. Prices shown on our site are in GBP; checkout may display tax and local currency where supported. You can cancel a Monthly Subscription through Lemon Squeezy's customer portal via the Manage subscription link in your receipt/subscription email. Refunds are handled according to Lemon Squeezy's refund policy and applicable law.

Licence keys may not be shared publicly, resold, or redistributed. We may limit, suspend, or revoke activations to prevent abuse.

The Annual Pass is a low-cost self-service licence sold under these standard terms. It may be bought by individuals or small organisations for regular classroom, demo, tutoring, department, club, or small organisation use. We are not able to accept custom procurement terms, supplier agreements, data processing agreements, indemnities, or service-level terms for this self-service licence. If an organisation requires custom terms, invoicing, procurement review, or a wider rollout, please contact us for a separate quote.

3. Your content

Camera input, recordings, annotations, and uploaded PDFs are processed locally on your device during normal use. We do not receive, view, or store your live camera or microphone stream. You retain full ownership of any content you create using the app.

v3 includes manual backup export/import. Backup files are created in your browser and saved wherever you choose to store them. You remain responsible for keeping suitable copies of any lesson evidence or materials you need later.

4. Resource Pane and third-party content

The Resource Pane allows you to search and read books from Open Library (part of the Internet Archive). These books are provided under the terms set by the Internet Archive and their respective rights holders. VisualizerApp does not host, copy, or redistribute this content — it is accessed directly from the Internet Archive's servers.

For compliance, VisualizerApp applies rights checks before direct in-app rendering. Where rights are borrow-restricted or unclear, content is opened in the Internet Archive reader or on the Internet Archive website instead of being rendered directly in-app. The same approach applies to audio items where supported.

You are responsible for ensuring your use of third-party content (including books and uploaded PDFs) complies with applicable copyright and licensing terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use VisualizerApp to record, distribute, or create content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes the rights of others. The wireless phone camera feature connects your own devices — you may not use it to intercept or access cameras on devices you do not own or have permission to use.

If you breach these terms, or engage in abuse, fraud, or misuse, we may suspend or terminate your access to the service, including revoking Pro licence keys without refund.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features may change, be added, or be removed over time. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where possible.

VisualizerApp is a lightweight browser-based visualizer/document camera tool. It is not a managed school MIS, safeguarding system, general cloud storage platform, emergency system, safety-critical system, or guaranteed communications service. Users and organisations remain responsible for their own classroom policies, safeguarding procedures, device management, backups, permissions, and local data protection obligations.

Support is provided by email on a reasonable-efforts basis. The Annual Pass and Monthly Subscription do not include guaranteed response times, phone support, on-site support, custom development, custom school network troubleshooting, procurement support, or a service level agreement unless separately agreed in writing.

For better day-to-day resilience, install the PWA version in your browser so core camera tools can continue to run from local cache if the site is temporarily unavailable.

Changes to, or removal of, features do not entitle paid users to a refund, unless required by applicable law or Lemon Squeezy's refund policy.

7. Analytics

Optional analytics (Google Analytics 4) may be used on selected public website pages if you consent via the cookie banner. If you consent, the same opt-in analytics may apply to supported app pages including appv2.html and appv3.html, and track feature usage events only. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

For clarity, this does not apply to legacy app.html.

You can review or change this choice through Cookie settings.

8. Disclaimer

VisualizerApp is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to VisualizerApp is limited to the amount you paid for VisualizerApp in the 12 months before the claim arose, or £10 if you have not paid for the service.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VisualizerApp and its operator from any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights through your use of the app.

10. Age requirements

VisualizerApp is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you are under 13, you must only use the service under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or teacher, with any required consent in place.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
