VisualizerApp turns a webcam, USB document camera or paired phone into a browser-based document camera. Teachers can also use compatible visualisers they already have to show and freeze books or written work, compare and annotate examples, and demonstrate written tasks—all without installing vendor software or creating an account.

Why it exists
Document cameras are useful, but their software can be tied to particular hardware, accounts or school installations. VisualizerApp was built as a straightforward browser alternative: open the page, choose a camera and teach.
The product is shaped around common classroom flows: explain a page clearly, capture a useful example and compare pupil work.
How to use it
VisualizerApp is for teachers, tutors and teaching staff to operate, not students. The teacher in charge should operate both devices when using Phone Camera and avoid showing faces, names or private surroundings unless needed for the teaching activity.
- Open VisualizerApp v3 in a modern browser and allow camera access.
- Choose a built-in webcam or connected USB document camera. If school policy allows it, you can instead pair a phone by scanning the in-app QR code. Pairing works best when the phone and computer use the same reliable Wi-Fi; school firewalls, VPNs or restrictive networks can block the connection.
- Point the camera at the work, then use freeze, annotation, split view, timer and other classroom tools as needed.
Privacy by design
Core camera processing stays in the browser
During normal webcam or USB-camera use, live camera video, freeze frames and annotations are processed on your device and are not uploaded to VisualizerApp servers. The core app does not require an account.
When you choose Phone Camera, encrypted WebRTC video travels between the two devices you pair. Signalling and network-discovery providers process the connection metadata needed to establish that link. Pro activation, resource search and feedback have separate, clearly described data flows. Google Analytics runs only if you allow it in Analytics settings.
Free core app, optional Pro tools
The free app covers the essential document-camera workflow, including QR Code Display, Celebration Mode, Last Setup and up to four phone captures. Pro adds Presenter Mode, Student Work comparison layouts, Snip, Magnifier, Saved Setup, stop-motion interval capture, school branding, watermark-free PDF/PNG output and PowerPoint export.

Install VisualizerApp and use it offline
If your web browser supports installation, you can install VisualizerApp and open it like a regular app. When installation is available, an Install App button appears near the bottom of the left-hand menu. You can also find the installation option under Settings → General, in Performance and recording. Select Install App and follow your browser’s instructions.
If the button is unavailable, check your browser’s menu for an installation option. Some browsers and devices do not support this feature.
After you have opened VisualizerApp successfully while online, many core features may continue to work without an internet connection. Offline availability varies by browser and device, so test it before relying on it offline.
You will still need an internet connection to pair a phone, search for resources, check or activate a Pro licence, and load some export or document-reading tools for the first time.
